Mai Leisz is a Grammy nominated bass player, singer-songwriter and producer. Born and raised on the island of Saaremaa in Estonia, she honed her craft at the Royal College of Stockholm in Sweden and made the move to Los Angeles, California in 2016.
In 2015 she became the recording and touring bass player with the two time member of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame – David Crosby. Mai’s bass playing is featured on his album Sky Trails (2017), including Here It’s Almost Sunset, a song she co-wrote with Crosby.
She has also toured with Jackson Browne and worked with Michael McDonald, Karla Bonoff, Kerli, Dan Navarro, Lauren Monroe, Glen Phillips, Bill Frisell, Charles Lloyd, Michael Landau, Gregg Bissonette, Rick Allen, Jim Keltner as well as performed with Joan Baez, Seal, David Foster, Jeff Bridges and Kenny Loggins among others.
As a recording engineer she has worked with Lana Del Rey, Kacey Musgraves, Jenny Lewis, Brandi Carlile. in 2024 she was nominated for a grammy in the Best Engineered Album (non-Classical) category for working on Deeper Well by Kacey Musgraves.
Mai has released 3 albums with her Swedish jazz-fusion group MaiGroup: Luv (2013), You (2015) and Metamorphosis (2019). She has released original instrumental music with Michael Landau, Greg leisz and Gary Novak.
She is also a Chopra certified Primordial Sound Meditation instructor.
