Mai Leisz plays at Blue Note Jazz Festival on May 30
On May 30th Blue Note Jazz Festival Europeans Sounds celebrates it’s opening night and Estonian bass player Mai Leisz and her group will perform on the stage of Blue Note at 10:30 p.m.
Mai Leisz is Southern California-based bass player, songwriter and producer. Born and raised on the island of Saaremaa in Estonia, she honed her craft at the Royal College of Stockholm in Sweden and made the move to the USA in 2016. Since 2015 she’s been the recording and touring bass player with the two time member of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame – David Crosby. She has also worked with Jackson Browne, Karla Bonoff, Michael McDonald, Bill Frisell, Charles Lloyd, Gregg Bissonette and Jim Keltner among others.
Mai has released 3 albums with her Swedish jazz-fusion group MaiGroup: “Luv” (2013), “You” (2015) and “Metamorphosis” (2019), and since 2020 she has released original music with Michael Landau, Greg Leisz and Gary Novak.
Mail Leisz’ concert is part of the European Sounds Series and her concert is supported s supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Estonia.
